WASH NOZZLES

The BCK engineering CIP tank cleaning system is designed to minimize the cleaning time for each mud tank and reduce the risk of man entry into the mud tanks. Depending on the size of the tank and the nozzles required multiple tanks can be cleaned at once and the efficiency of the tank cleaning system can remove tank cleaning from the critical path on rig operations.

The tank cleaning machines offered are the BCK15TW which is a non programmable machine that rotates 360 deg and requires 100gpm at up to 250 psi. If rig mud system has open top tanks the BCKTW180 wash machines are available that only rotates throw 180 deg. These wash nozzles can be permanently installed or removable for portable installation. The nozzles are fitted to the tank through a 8” opening which can be secured from a variety of fittings. The portable system is designed to operate up to 2 nozzles at once but 4-6 wash nozzles assemblies are provided for redundancy and to prepare the next tanks to be cleaned while the CIP system is in use. A detailed description of the wash nozzles and a drawing of the wash nozzle assemblies is attached.

PORTABLE PUMP SKID

The portable pump skid incorporates a 50 HP multiphase centrifugal pump, 50 bbls tank spilt into 2 compartments and a control system to operate the system. The 50 HP pump is designed to provide 250 gpm of wash fluid at up to 250 psi which is enough fluid and pressure to efficiently power 2 tank cleaning nozzles as described below.

CLOSED LOOP SYSTEMS

To operate the system to its full potential it must be operated as a closed loop system. Many systems on offer only have sacrificial system and all the wash fluid is discharged overboard or collected as slops and this generates a very large slop volume. The closed loop system allows the cleaning fluid to be reused save time and money. A M8 wilden pump or similar is used to return the soap from the mud tank being cleaned 50 bbls portable pump skid. The pump is plumbed into the suction line for the mud tank with a 3” connection and hose run to the portable pump skid.

The BCK Engineering pump skid is a major step forward in tank cleaning and allows the wash nozzles to operate at full capacity and greatly improve the cleaning performance of the tank cleaning system. Many systems use undersized pumps or diaphragm pumps that pulse and this results in non uniform flow to the wash nozzles and increases the wash time and reduces the performance of the nozzles. The 50 bbl tank is used to mix micro emulsion cleaning fluid and will act as storage of the soap between washes and as a circulation system greatly reducing the volume of slop created. The 2 compartments act as a separation device to remove any solids carried over from the cleaning system.
